AdBlue is the registered trademark for AUS32, or Aqueous Urea Solution 32.5% that is used with the Selective Catalytic Reduction system (SCR) to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen from the exhaust of UK diesel vehicles.

How much should be used?

  • Average recommended usage is 5% of diesel used. So for every 100 litres of diesel that is used you will need 5 litres of Adblue. This may vary, however, depending on vehicle type, weight etc.
  • Some newer engines may limit power until the Adblue tank has been filled.

AdBlue must be stored in a dedicated AdBlue tank, or the original container in which it was delivered. Containers must be securely sealed and kept in a dry, well-ventilated area at an ideal constant ambient temperature of no higher than 25 degrees C.

It will start to freeze at -10 degrees. However, once it thaws out it remains unaffected.

To help dispense the product Pearce Energy can advise on a  complete range of storage containers, pumps and pipework.

Provided AdBlue is stored at a constant ambient temperature below 25 degrees C, the shelf life is 18 months.
